PRESENT PASSIVE PARTICIPLES. Present Passive participles are formed from present-tense imperfective transitive verbs (получаемый).

To form them, add adjective endings to the first-person plural form of imperfective verbs. Present passive participles are used mainly in “formal written Russian, but some of them are often used as adjectives:

 

Любимый-favorite

Незабываемый-unforgettable

Независимый-independent

(так) называемый-(so) called

уважаемый-dear, respected

Необходимый-necessary

 

PAST PASSIVE PARTICIPLES. Past passive participles are formed from perfective transitive verbs (закрытый, украденный). Past passive participles are formed with one of these suffixes.

 

 

1. First-conjugation verbs with infinitives ending in -ить, -ыть

To form: Remove the soft sign (-ь-) from the infinitive and add adjective endings.

ОткрытЬ -- открыТ –ый, -ая, -ые

ЗабытЬ -- забыТ –ый, -ая, -ые

убитЬ -- убиТ –ый, -ая, -ые

 

2. First-conjugation verbs with –н- -м- in their conjugation

взять (возьму) – взяТый

начать (начну) – начаТый

снять (сниму) – сняТый

 

 

1. First-conjugation verbs with infinitives ending in -ать other than those with –м- or –н- in their conjugation.

To form: Remove the –ть- from the infinitive and add –нн- plus adjective endings.

сделаТЬ --сдела НН –ый, -ая, -ые

прочитаТЬ --прочита НН –ый, -ая, -ые

написаТЬ --написа НН –ый, -ая, -ые

даТЬ --да НН –ый, -ая, -ые

 

 

1. Second-conjugation verbs with infinitives ending in –ить.

2. First-conjugation verbs with infinitives ending in –сти (-ть) or –зти.

 

To form: Remove the –у/-ю from the first-person singular form and add –енн/-ённ plus adjective endings.

Принесу принес ЁНН –ый, -ая, -ые

Привезу привез ЁНН –ый, -ая, -ые

Решу реш ЁНН –ый, -ая, -ые

Куплю куп ЕНН –ый, -ая, -ые

Получу получ ЕНН –ый, -ая, -ые
